How to Stand for 26.2 Hour at Dance Marathon

Dance Marathon is an annual event each April where over 700 students stay away and on their feet for 26.2 hours to raise money and awareness for Children's Miracle Network. All the money donated goes directly to Shands Children's Hospital at UF. The basis for this Web site would be to teach first-year dancers at Dance Marathon how to pass the time throughout the 26.2 hours during the event. The site would include the following pages:

History of Dance Marathon
  • Origin of Children's Miracle Network and Dance Marathon
  • It started in the Reitz Union, then moved to the O'Connell Center
  • The different lengths of Time Dance Marathon has been throughout its 15-year history

Advice from former dancers
  • Written and video interviews with a 3-year dancers and a 7-year dancer

How to pass the time
  • Video of the line dance at the 2009 event
  • Menu of food served at the 2009 event
  • Description of what "theme hours" are and examples of theme hours
  • Samples of bands and other entertainment offered at the event

Miracle Stories (the biggest motivation of them all)
  • Pictures of the Dance Marathon Miracle Children and their stories
